<p><span class="TrackChangeTextInsertion TrackedChange SCXW137390333 BCX8"><span class="TextRun SCXW137390333 BCX8" lang="EN-US" xml:lang="EN-US" data-contrast="none">The Energy Policy and Conservation Act (EPCA), as amended, prescribes energy conservation standards for various consumer products and certain commercial and industrial equipment, including Packaged Terminal Air Conditioners (PTAC) and Packaged Terminal Heat Pumps (PTHP).</span></span><span class="TrackChangeTextInsertion TrackedChange SCXW137390333 BCX8"><span class="TextRun SCXW137390333 BCX8" lang="EN-US" xml:lang="EN-US" data-contrast="none"> EPCA also requires t</span></span>he U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to<span class="TrackChangeTextInsertion TrackedChange SCXW137390333 BCX8"><span class="TextRun SCXW137390333 BCX8" lang="EN-US" xml:lang="EN-US" data-contrast="none"> periodically review standards to determine whether national standards more stringent than those currently in place would result in a significant amount of energy savings and whether such amended national standards would be technologically feasible and economically justified. DOE has preliminarily determined that it lacks clear and convincing evidence that more stringent standards for PTACs and PTHPs would be economically justified.
