<RULE_TITLE>National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES): Use of Sufficiently Sensitive Test Methods for Permit Applications and Reporting</RULE_TITLE>
<![CDATA[EPA finalized minor amendments to its Clean Water Act (CWA) regulations to codify that under the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) program, only "sufficiently sensitive" EPA-approved analytical test methods, i.e., those that are capable of detecting and measuring the pollutants at or below the respective water quality criteria or permit limits, can be used by permit applicants when completing an NPDES permit application. Also, the Director (the head of the permit-issuing agency) must prescribe that only "sufficiently sensitive" EPA-approved analytical methods be used for analyses of pollutants or pollutant parameters under an NPDES permit.]]>
