As announced in the Preliminary Effluent Guidelines Program Plan 15, EPA is revising the existing Organic Chemicals, Plastics, and Synthetic Fibers (OCPSF) Effluent Limitations Guidelines and Standards (ELGs) (40 CFR part 414) to address per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) discharges from facilities manufacturing PFAS. The OCPSF ELGs, last revised in 1993, currently do not contain discharge standards for PFAS. EPA will use any data and information obtained via public comment on the March 2021 Advanced Notice of Proposed Rulemaking to inform development of this proposed rule.
