EPA regularly promulgates updates to the table of approved Clean Water Act monitoring methods at 40 CFR 136.3. On April 16, 2024, the Environmental Protection Agency promulgated a final routine Methods Update Rule For this routine MUR, the EPA only considered new methods or method revisions for which a complete, acceptable method package has been received by January 7, 2022. The EPA considered only methods submitted through the Alternate Test Procedure program; from Voluntary Consensus Standard Bodies; and other government Agencies. The EPA is not currently considering any changes to radiochemical or Whole Effluent Toxicity methods because of the extensive data requirements and review associated with these methods. The EPA is not considering methods for new analytes in this routine MUR.
