The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is proposing Federal Clean Water Act (CWA) aquatic life criteria for mercury applicable to waters under the State of Idaho’s jurisdiction. EPA is under a court-ordered deadline to sign for publication in the Federal Register proposed mercury aquatic life criteria for Idaho by April 4, 2024. EPA’s proposed water quality standards (WQS) will take into account the best available science, including local and regional information, as well as applicable EPA policies, guidance, and legal requirements.
