<RULE_TITLE>Petition To Delist Hazardous Air Pollutant : 4,4'-Methylene Diphenyl Diisocyanate</RULE_TITLE>
<![CDATA[The Clean Air Act requires EPA to regulate 187 compounds that are listed as air toxics, also known as hazardous air pollutants. Air toxics are those pollutants known, or suspected, to cause cancer and other adverse human health problems. The law requires EPA to consider petitions to modify the list, by adding or removing substances. Individuals seeking to remove a substance must demonstrate that there are adequate data to support their petition. The Agency received a petition to remove 4,4'-Methylene Diphenyl Diisocyanate (MDI) from the American Chemistry Council on December 26, 2002. Once EPA receives a petition, it conducts two reviews: a completeness review, to determine whether there is sufficient information on which to base a decision; and a technical review, to evaluate the merits of the petition. This petition was deemed complete in 2005.]]>
