The Agency is in the process of collecting information about new technologies and approaches that could be implemented in the upcoming revision and update to the Standards of Performance for Municipal Solid Waste Landfills (NSPS) and its companion rule, Emission Guidelines and Compliance Times for Municipal Solid Waste Landfills (EG) that were finalized on August 29, 2016 (81 FR 59332 and 81 FR 59276). The Agency aims to understand how these new technologies and approaches could be incorporated into updated NSPS/EG rules in an innovative and thoughtful manner to reduce emissions from municipal solid waste landfills and to protect the environment and the health of people that live nearby.
