        <RULE_TITLE>Refractory Ceramic Fibers (RCFs)</RULE_TITLE>
<![CDATA[EPA has instituted a program to monitor the commercial development of existing chemicals of concern and/or to gather information to support risk assessments on such chemicals including Refractory Ceramic Fibers (RCFs). RCFs are amorphous synthetic fibers that part of a larger group called synthetic vitreous fibers (SVFs). RCFs are made by either "spinning" or "blowing" and are used primarily for high temperature industrial insulation purposes (e.g., furnaces, heaters, kilns) in addition to automotive applications, aerospace uses, and in certain other industrial applications. As chemicals of potential concern are identified, EPA will initiate rulemakings under the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) when appropriate, to require reporting by the manufacturers, importers and/or processors of these chemicals.]]>
