The Office of the Secretary of Transportation is updating the regulations that govern the organization of the Department of Transportation and delegate authority from the Secretary to departmental officers, including the Deputy Secretary, the Under Secretary, the General Counsel, the Assistant Secretaries, the Inspector General, and the heads of the Department's Operating Administrations. This amendment responds to the Fixing America's Surface Transportation (FAST) Act. This rule relates only to the Department's organization and internal procedures. It does not impose direct costs on or provide direct benefits to the public.
