This rulemaking would amend Federal motor vehicle safety standard (FMVSS) No. 208, Occupant crash protection, to update the child restraint systems (CRSs) listed in appendix A-1. These CRSs are used by NHTSA in air bag suppression and low risk deployment testing. This rulemaking action only seeks to refresh an existing list of CRSs and reduce the regulatory burden on vehicle manufacturers to meet FMVSS No. 208 using child restraints that are no longer in production.
