This action sought public comment on whether NHTSA's proposed updates for the processing of petitions (49 CFR parts 552 and 553) for FMVSS, would improve the process for reviewing innovative safety technologies. The existing regulations define a process for the receipt, review and processing of both the petitions for rulemaking and petitions for reconsideration.
