HUD’s current rule, Nondiscrimination and Equal Opportunity in Housing implementing Executive Order 11063, is duplicative of other FHEO regulations and is not expressly required by statute. The current rule predated the passage of the Fair Housing Act and is no longer necessary. HUD’s FHEO has robust complaint procedures pursuant to statutory authorities. This direct final rule rescinds these outdated, duplicative requirements.
