<![CDATA[This proposed rule amends 14 CFR subparts 6, 7, and 11 to remove language that refers to the recently retired Space Shuttle program and to clarify language for other ongoing programs that require some of this rule to remain in place.

Subpart 6 establishes policy, procedures, and responsibilities for selecting, approving, packing, storing, and disposing of mementos carried on Space Shuttle flights.

Subpart 7 establishes the authority of the Space Shuttle commander to enforce order and discipline during all flight phases of a Shuttle flight.

Subpart 11 establishes NASA procedures and assigns responsibilities for recruitment and selection of astronaut candidates.

The revisions to this rule are part of NASA's retrospective plan under Executive Order 13563, completed in August 2011. NASA's full plan can be accessed at: http://www.nasa.gov/open.]]>
