2900-AQ88 202304 Unified Agenda of Federal Regulatory and Deregulatory Actions 2900 Department of Veterans Affairs VA Post-9/11 Improvements, Fry Scholarship, and Interval Payments Amendments

The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) amends it’s regulations that govern the general provisions of the Veteran Veteran Readiness and Employment and Education regulations by incorporating the provisions of section 1002 of the Supplemental Appropriations Act of 2009 (Public Law 111-32) which authorized the "Marine Gunnery Sergeant John David Fry Scholarship"; the Post-9/11 GI Bill Educational Assistance Improvements Act of 2010 (Public Law 111-377), which modified the manner in which payments of educational assistance payments are determined, and expanded the types of programs students may pursue under the Post-9/11 GI Bill; and a select number of provisions of Harry W. Colmery Veterans Educational Assistance Act of 2017 (Public Law 115-48). These amendments are necessary to implement the provisions of laws above as well as other legislative enactments that affect the provision of educational assistance to veterans. These proposed amendments are in accordance with the President’s priorities that improve service delivery, customer experience, and reduce administrative burdens for those accessing public benefits and services.
