Staff is considering recommending to the Commission proposed rules to amend the requirements set forth in Regulation 1.31 regarding the retention and production of electronic records.  The proposed rules would modernize the recordkeeping requirements to account for advances in information technology that have rendered certain technical components of 1.31 obsolete and outdated. The proposed rules would rely on current standards in the financial industry for achieving efficient and reliable electronic storage of records that would also provide the Commission with the high degree of confidence in the integrity of the records demanded by the Commission’s regulatory mandate.
