<![CDATA[This proceeding was separate from the Commission's proceeding on Enhanced 911 Emergency Systems (E911) in that it intended to implement provisions of the Wireless Communications and Public Safety Act of 1999 through the promotion of public safety by the deployment of a seamless, nationwide emergency communications infrastructure that includes wireless communications services. More specifically, the chief goal of the proceeding is to ensure that all emergency calls are routed to the appropriate local emergency authority to provide assistance. The E911 proceeding goes a step further and was aimed at improving the effectiveness and reliability of wireless 911 dispatchers with additional information on wireless 911 calls.]]>
