The NCUA Board published a Request for Information on July 27, 2021, to solicit information regarding a wide range of issues pertaining to decentralized finance and digital assets as they relate to the credit union industry. The NCUA subsequently issued a Letter to Credit Unions relating to digital assets. The NCUA is also aware of the March 2022 Executive Order on Ensuring Responsible Development of Digital Assets. The agency will consider both the comments on the Request for Information and the recent executive order (and studies to be conducted under that order) in evaluating what if any proposals should be forthcoming.
