3147-AA06 201804 Unified Agenda of Federal Regulatory and Deregulatory Actions 3147 National Transportation Safety Board NTSB Technical Revisions to Parts 802, 806, 807, 830 and 840

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) plans to issue a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) revising several parts in 49 CFR, chapter VIII:

Part 802 - Rules Implementing the Privacy Act of 1974;

Part 806 - National Security Information Policy and Guidelines; Implementing Regulations; and

Part 807 - Enforcement of Nondiscrimination on the Basis of Handicap in Programs or Activities Conducted by the NTSB.

Part 830 - Notification and Reporting of Aircraft Accidents or Incidents and Overdue Aircraft, and Preservation of Aircraft Wreckage, Mail, Cargo, and Records; and

Part 840 - Rules Pertaining to Notification of Railroad Accidents.

The NPRM follows a notice the NTSB published in the Federal Register in June 2012, which indicated the NTSB would review all NTSB regulations and amend them to ensure they are up-to-date, in accordance with Executive Orders 13563 and 13579. The NTSB intends to update terms and citations, and rephrase and reorganize the regulations to improve clarity.
