<![CDATA[The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) plans to rescind 49 CFR part 806, which contains citations to outdated authority concerning declassification of Government records. The NTSB adheres to current statutory requirements, as well as relevant Executive Orders, regarding the handling of classified materials. In addition, the NTSB rarely obtains such records. Part 806, therefore, is unnecessary and outdated. The NTSB's notice for rescinding part 806 follows a notice the NTSB published in the Federal Register in June 2012, which indicated the NTSB would review all NTSB regulations and amend them to ensure they are up-to-date, in accordance with Executive Orders 13563 and 13579.]]>
