Title: Decommissioning Planning [NRC-2008-0030]
Abstract: The final rule amends the Commission's regulations to prevent future legacy sites. One set of changes revises 10 CFR 20.1406 and 20.1501 to require that licensees conduct their operations to minimize contamination at the site, including the subsurface, and to document survey results with records important for decommissioning. A second set of changes revises regulations in 10 CFR parts 30, 40, 50, 70, and 72 to provide tighter control of the decommissioning financial assurances and more detailed reporting by licensees of their decommissioning cost estimates.
