Pursuant to the Federal Civil Penalties Inflation Adjustment Act Improvements Act of 2015, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission must adjust for inflation its civil monetary penalties every year no later than January 15, in accordance with a statutory formula linked to the Consumer Price Index. These adjustments are rounded to the nearest dollar and the agency does not have discretion to alter the amount of adjustment. The agency will conduct this rulemaking annually such that adjustments are effective no later than January 15.
