The Small Business Administration (SBA) is proposing to amend its regulations governing Government Contracting Programs to eliminate provisions that are obsolete, unnecessary, or duplicative. This action is necessary to reduce administrative burdens, streamline the government contracting process for small businesses, and clarify program rules to align them more closely with statutory authorities. The rule would simplify compliance, reduce regulatory complexity, and allow for a more efficient use of government resources. The SBA will consider comments received before issuing a final rule. Part 125 contains general regulations for SBA’s government contracting programs. SBA reviewed and identified numerous sections that were not statutorily required, overly burdensome for small businesses, and duplicative of other SBA’s regulations. For example, Part 125 had sections that were nearly identical to regulations elsewhere in SBA’s regulations. Where SBA identified these duplications, SBA has either deleted, moved, or consolidated those requirements.
