Title: ●Airspace Management Over Grand Canyon National Park
Abstract: On August 18, 1987, Congress enacted legislation that required a study of aircraft noise impacts at a number of National parks and imposed flight restrictions at three parks, including Grand Canyon National Park (Pub.L 100-91). Among other requirements, Pub.L. 100-91 mandated the Department of Interior/National Park Service (DOI/NPS) to submit a final report and recommendations to Congress on the effectiveness of the airspace management plan over Grand Canyon National Park. This proposed rulemaking is the result of the Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) review of the DOI/NPS report and recommendations, which were submitted to Congress on September 14, l995. The FAA is considering proposing to restrict flight operations in certain areas of the park and modify some of the current flight areas. The proposed rule is considered significant because of its potential impact on air tour operators.
