Title: Fishery Management Plan for the Queen Conch Fishery of Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands | |
Abstract: This new Fishery Management Plan for the Queen Conch Fishery of Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands will establish Federal management measures to rebuild the overfished queen conch resource off Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Proposed measures include: (1) requirement that Caribbean conch resources be landed in the shell; (2) minimum commercial fishery size limit for queen conch; (3) recreational fishery daily bag limit; (4) daily harvest limits for the commercial fishery; (5) seasonal closure to protect spawning conch; and (6) gear restrictions. | |
