Abstract: This action would change Federal striped bass regulations in the EEZ off the Atlantic Coast to support the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission's Striped Bass Management Plan's Amendment 5.

Additional Information: ASMFC's Amendment 5 was completed on 3/95. This amendment relaxes State regulations restricting the take of striped bass in recognition of the recovery of striped bass stocks along the Atlantic coast. Federal action is anticipated to change the current Federal closure to striped bass fishing in the EEZ to regulation which will be less restrictive and more compatible with State regulations.
