DOT/NHTSA RIN: 2127-AF88 Publication ID: Spring 1997
Title: Rescind Windshield Wiping and Washing Systems
Abstract: In response to the President's regulatory reinvention initiative, the agency had proposed to rescind this standard. The agency had tentatively concluded that market forces would continue current practices. After reviewing the public comments, the agency has decided to terminate this action because the agency now intends to harmonize this standard with international motor vehicle standards, a goal that would not be achieved simply by the action of market forces.
