Title: ●Implementation of the Nondiscrimination and Equal Opportunity Requirements of the Workforce Investment Act of 1998 
Abstract: The Workforce Investment Act of 1988 (WIA) was signed into law by President Clinton on August 7, 1998. Section 188 prohibits discrimination on the grounds of race, color, national origin, sex, age, disability, religion, political affiliation or belief, participant status, and against certain noncitizens. Section 188(e) requires that the Secretary of Labor issue regulations necessary to implement section 188 not later than one year after the date of the enactment of the WIA. Such regulations will include standards for determining compliance and procedures for enforcement that are consistent with the Acts referred to in section 188(a)(1), as well as procedures to ensure that complaints filed under section 188 and such acts processed in a manner that avoids duplication of effort.
