Title: Provider and Supplier Enrollment Periodic Renewal of Eligibility Requirements (HCFA-6002-P)
Abstract: This proposed rule would establish conditions for enrolling providers and suppliers that furnish items or services to Medicare beneficiaries. These conditions would improve current enrollment procedures to more accurately identify providers and suppliers, and secure information and documentation necessary for the effective and efficient administration of the Medicare program. The improved identification of providers and suppliers, coupled with the collection of certain information, would facilitate the administration of many aspects of the Medicare program including, but not necessarily limited to, monitoring for compliance with program rules and combating fraud and abuse. Improvements in enrolling providers and suppliers would afford both the Medicare Trust Funds and program beneficiaries with greater protection.
