Title: ●Amendment 12 to the Fishery Management Plan for the Snapper-Grouper Fishery of the South Atlantic Region | |
Abstract: Proposed management measures in Amendment 12 are designed to rebuild the red porgy resource while minimizing economic hardship on commercial and recreational fishermen. The measures include: (1) setting the maximum sustainable yield (MSY) for red porgy as 1,987 metric tons; (2) setting the Optimum Yield (OY) for red porgy as the amount of harvest that can be taken by U.S. fishermen while maintaining the spawning potential ratio (SPR) at or above 45 percent static SPR; and (3) modifying the overfishing level and rebuilding timeframe. | |
