DOL/ESA RIN: 1215-AB24 Publication ID: Spring 2001
Title: Affirmative Action and Nondiscrimination Obligations of Contractors and Subcontractors for Special Disabled Veterans and Veterans of the Vietnam Era
Abstract: OFCCP proposes to amend the regulations implementing the Vietnam Era Veterans' Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA) 38 USC 4212, to conform with the Veterans Employment Opportunities Act (the Act) of 1998 and the Veterans Benefits and Health Care Improvement Act of 2000 (VBHCIA). The Act and VBHCIA of 2000 increase the current threshold for coverage from $10,000 to $25,000. The Act and VBHCIA of 2000 expand the existing definition of Veterans, i.e., special disabled veterans and veterans of the Vietnam Era, to include recently separated veterans and any other veterans who served on active duty during a war or in a campaign or expedition for which a campaign badge has been authorized. Recently separated veterans means any veteran during the one-year period beginning on the date of such veteran's discharge or release from active duty.
