Title: Vessel Identification System (USCG-1999-6420) | |
Abstract: Shipping legislation requires the Secretary of Transportation to establish a Vessel Identification System (VIS). This rulemaking prescribes the manner and form for participating States to make information available for VIS; to establish guidelines for State vessel titling systems; and to establish procedures for certifying compliance with those guidelines. This rulemaking supports the Coast Guard's strategic goal of maritime mobility. | |
