Title: Hazardous Waste Manifest Regulation
Abstract: The Uniform Hazardous Waste Manifest (Form 8700-22) is a multi-copy form used to identify the quantity, composition, origin, routing, and destination of hazardous waste during its transportation. The manifest system's reliance on paper results in significant paperwork and cost burden to waste handlers and States who choose to collect manifest information. The Agency intends to pursue an optional approach to redesign the manifest system so that it utilizes automated technologies to increase access to manifest-related information, and to facilitate the manifest process, including the form's preparation, transmission, and recordkeeping, thereby lessening the total burden on waste handlers and States that choose to collect manifests. In addition, the Agency intends to standardize further the manifest form itself, by eliminating several optional data fields.
