Title: ●Amendment 6 to the Fishery Management Plan for the Shrimp Fishery of the South Atlantic Region
Abstract: The South Atlantic Fishery Management Council is developing Amendment 6 to refine and revise the management strategy for the various shrimp stocks. A permitting and reporting system will be established for the shrimp fishery of the South Atlantic exclusive economic zone. In accordance with the Magnuson-Stevens Fishery Conservation and Management Act, the amendment will revise or establish stock status thresholds and targets including MSY, OY, as well as the "overfished" and "overfishing" definitions for the shrimp species in the management unit. Additional actions will address bycatch reduction in the fisheries, as well as establish bycatch reporting requirements.
