Title: Jobs for Veterans Act of 2002: Contract Threshold and Eligibility Groups for Federal Contractor Program | |
Abstract: The Veterans' Employment and Training Service (VETS) is proposing to issue a notice of proposed rulemaking (NPRM) to implement changes required by the Jobs For Veterans Act (JVA) of 2002. This act amended the Vietnam Veterans' Readjustment Assistance Act of 1974, as amended (VEVRAA), by revising the reporting threshold from $25,000 to $100,000. JVA also eliminated the collection categories of special disabled veterans and veterans of the Vietnam era and added the new collection categories of disabled veterans and armed forces expeditionary medal veterans. JVA continues the collection for the recently separated veterans category, but changed the definition for that category to include any veteran who served on active duty in the U.S. military ground, naval, or air service during the three-year period beginning on the date of such veteran's discharge or release from active duty. Additionally, Federal contractors and subcontractors will be required to report the total number of all current employees in nine job categories for each hiring location. This proposal will assist VETS in meeting the statutory requirement of annually collecting the VETS-100 Report. | |
