Title: Revised Medical Criteria for Evaluating Hematological Disorders (974P)
Abstract: Sections 7.00 and 107.00 (hematological disorders) of appendix 1 to subpart P of part 404 of our regulations (404.1501 through 404.1599) describe hematological disorders that are considered severe enough to prevent a person from doing any gainful activity, or for a child claiming SSI payments under title XVI, which causes marked and severe functional limitation. We are proposing to revise these sections to ensure that the medical evaluation criteria are up-to-date and consistent with the latest advances in medical knowledge and treatment. The Supplemental Security Income program incorporates and uses the same medical criteria as the Old-Age, Survivors, and Disability Insurance program.
