Title: Interagency Proposal for Model Privacy Form Under the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act
Abstract: The Commission, together with the Federal Reserve Board, Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, Federal Trade Commission, National Credit Union Administration, Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, and Office of Thrift Supervision (the Agencies), requested comment on whether the Agencies should consider amending the regulations that implement the privacy provisions of the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act to allow or require financial institutions to provide alternative types of privacy notices that would be easier for consumers to understand. Pursuant to the Financial Services Regulatory Relief Act, the Agencies proposed a model form that may be used at the option of financial institutions. The staff anticipates recommending that the Commission, in coordination with the other Agencies, adopt a model privacy form that financial institutions may use to provide disclosures under the privacy rules.
