Title: Medical Benefits for Veterans Released From Penal Institutions to Transitional Housing
Abstract: The Department of Veterans (VA) proposes to amend its medical regulations to authorize medical and psychiatric care to a veteran in a program providing transitional housing (such as halfway houses) upon release from a penal institution, if the program expects participants to arrange for their own medical care. The proposed rule would help VA reduce and prevent homelessness in this population of veterans.
