Title: Secretary's Priorities for Discretionary Grant Programs
Abstract: The Secretary establishes priorities that the Department may use for any appropriate discretionary grant program in fiscal year (FY) 2011 and future years. Specifically, the Secretary establishes priorities in three key areas: Advancing key cradle-to-career educational reforms, addressing the needs of student subgroups, and building capacity for systemic continuous improvement. We take this action to focus Federal financial assistance on expanding the number of programs and projects departmentwide that support activities in areas of greatest educational need.
