Title: Standard Instrument Approach Procedures
Abstract: This rule would provide for instrument descent to airports in the United States. Standard Instrument Approach Procedures (SIAPs) are a nonsignificant body of regulations that are complex and technical in nature and require routine and frequent rulemaking to maintain efficiency. The FAA issues, revises, and cancels SIAPs by adopting amendments that are incorporated into 14 CFR part 97. Contemporaneously with publication in the Federal Register, the SIAPs are made available to the Aeronautical Charting and Cartography Office in the FAA and other publishers of aeronautical charts, where they are published as approach procedure charts or "approach plates." These charts are made available to the members of the aviation community for use by pilots in making instrument approaches. Total actions expected - 3300. 10/00/2010 - 10/00/2011.
