Title: Wildlife and Fisheries; Boating Infrastructure Grant Program; Financial Assistance
Abstract: We will revise regulations that establish requirements for State participation in the Boating Infrastructure Grant (BIG) Program authorized by the Sport Fishing and Boating Safety Act. The BIG Program provides funds for States to construct, renovate, and maintain eligible facilities with features for transient boaters in vessels at least 26 feet long and to produce and distribute information and educational materials about the program. The Sport Fishing and Boating Partnership Council, a group chartered under the Federal Advisory Committee Act, published a June 2005 report that identified 11 recommendations in the areas of project application and selection, awareness and participation, and execution and reporting. The revised regulations will address program topics that will improve management, execution, and participation.
