Title: Fisheries in the Western Pacific; Marianas Trench Marine National Monument, Pacific Remote Islands Marine National Monument, Rose Atoll Marine National Monument
Abstract: NMFS proposes regulations to implement the Marianas Trench Marine National Monument, Pacific Remote Islands Marine National Monument, and Rose Atoll Marine National Monument. This action would codify certain provisions set forth in Presidential Proclamations 8335, 8336, and 8337, issued on January 6, 2009, establishing the monuments. The Proclamations specified certain provisions on governance of the monuments, including prohibitions on commercial fishing. NMFS would also implement management recommendations from the Western Pacific Fishery Management Council relating to fishing activities within the monuments.
