Title: ●Acceptable Medical Sources (3787P)
Abstract: We proposed to revise the Social Security and supplemental security income (SSI) disability regulations regarding sources of evidence for establishing the existence of a medically determinable impairment under title II and title XVI of the Social Security Act (the Act). The proposed change would expand the current list of acceptable medical sources to include nurse practitioners, physician assistants, licensed clinical social workers, and audiologists. This change would allow us to use the evidence from these sources to establish a claimant's medically determinable impairment(s).
