Title: Endangered and Threatened Wildlife and Plants; Listing Determination and Critical Habitat Designation for the Bi-State DPS of Greater Sage Grouse
Abstract: We will make a listing determination and designate critical habitat for the bi-State distinct population segment (DPS) of the greater sage grouse (Centrocercus urophasianus) pursuant to the Endangered Species Act. On March 23, 2010, we published a 12-month finding that the bi-State sage grouse constituted a valid DPS and initiated a status review (75 FR 13909). The range of the bi-State sage grouse is portions of western Nevada. Destruction and modification of greater sage-grouse habitat due to urbanization, infrastructure (e.g., fences, powerlines, and roads), mining, renewable energy development, grazing, wildfire, invasive plant species, and the effects of climate change are the greatest threats to the DPS.
