Title: Endangered and Threatened Wildlife and Plants; Listing Determination for Eastern Small-Footed Bat and Northern Long-Eared Bat
Abstract: On October 2, 2013, FWS published a combined 12-month finding and proposed rule regarding the eastern small-footed bat and northern long-eared bat (Myotis leibii and Myotis septentrionalis, respectively). FWS proposed to list the northern long-eared bat as endangered; the 12-month finding determined that the petition to list the eastern small-footed bat was not warranted pursuant to the Endangered Species Act of 1973, as amended. The eastern small-footed bat is found in the eastern United States (26 States) and southeastern Canada (2 Provinces). The northern long-eared bat is found in much of the eastern and central United States, and small portions of the western United States (38 States). In this action, the FWS will make a final listing determination regarding the northern long-eared bat. Critical habitat is under RIN 1018-AZ62.
