Title: ●Notification and Reporting of Aircraft Accidents or Incidents and Overdue Aircraft, and Preservation of Aircraft Wreckage, Mail, Cargo, and Records
Abstract: The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) plans to revise 49 CFR part 830, which contains notification requirements applicable to aviation accidents and incidents. Operators are required to notify the NTSB of all aircraft accidents, as defined in part 830, as well as some aircraft incidents. The NTSB plans to propose updates to part 830 to ensure the part is up-to-date and easy to understand. Currently, some sections within part 830 contain outdated terms, and section 830.5 contains outdated contact information for the NTSB. The proposed updates to part 830 will modernize the regulations as needed. The NTSB's notice for revising part 830 is a long-term goal, and follows a notice the NTSB published in the Federal Register in June 2012, which indicated the NTSB would review all NTSB regulations and amend them to ensure they are up-to-date, in accordance with Executive Orders 13563 and 13579.
