Title: Endangered and Threatened Wildlife and Plants; Critical Habitat Designation for the Northern Long-Eared Bat
Abstract: On October 2, 2013, the FWS published a combined 12-month finding and proposed rule regarding making a listing determination for the eastern small-footed bat and northern long-eared bat (Myotis leibii and Myotis septentrionalis, respectively). FWS proposed to list the northern long-eared bat as endangered; however, the 12-month finding determined that the petition to list the eastern small-footed bat was not warranted under the Endangered Species Act of 1973, as amended. The northern long-eared bat is found in much of the eastern and central United States, and in small portions of the western United States (38 States). In this action, the FWS will make a proposed critical habitat designation regarding the northern long-eared bat. FWS addresses listing under RIN 1018-AY98.
