Title: Amendments to Implement the Internationally Agreed Requirements of the Antarctic Marine Living Resources Convention Act
Abstract: The National Marine Fisheries Service is amending regulations to implement internationally agreed requirements pursuant to the Antarctic Marine Living Resources Convention Act. These amendments include: increasing the time for advance notice of fishing activities; clarifying requirements in the current regulations; updating reporting formats; reducing the time for advance notice of imports of toothfish species; and enhancing and clarifying transshipment reporting requirements. There are no U.S. businesses currently conducting Antarctic fishing activities governed by these regulations. The U.S. businesses engaged in importing under these regulations are expected to benefit from more efficient operations when these changes are made.
