Title: Response to Petition to Designate the Sakhalin Bay-Amur River Stock of Beluga Whales as Depleted Under the Marine Mammal Protection Act | |
Abstract:
With this action, the National Marine Fisheries Service will respond to a petition to designate the Sakhalin Bay-Amur River stock of beluga whales as a depleted stock pursuant to the Marine Mammal Protection Act. This action is based on a status review conducted by the National Marine Fisheries Service in response to the petition. The biological evidence will be used to determine whether the group is a "stock" and whether the stock is depleted, as these terms are defined in the Marine Mammal Protection Act. |
