Title: ●Scup Gear Restricted Areas Modification Framework Adjustment 
Abstract: This action would modify the Southern Gear Restricted Area to balance scup bycatch minimization with access for the squid fishery. The scup gear restricted areas were implemented in the early 2000s (when scup was overfished) to minimize juvenile scup mortality in small-mesh fisheries. Scup is no longer overfished, and the scup population is estimated to be approximately 200 percent of its biomass target. The action would reduce the size of the current Gear Restricted Area by approximately 33 percent, while increasing access to the squid fishery by 51 percent, primarily on the eastern boundary near the canyon areas.
