Title: Endangered and Threatened Wildlife and Plants; Critical Habitat Designation for Three Sierra Amphibians | |
Abstract:
We designated critical habitat for the Sierra Nevada yellow-legged frog, the northern distinct population segment (DPS) of the mountain yellow-legged frog, and the Yosemite toad. These species are found alongside rivers, streams, and isolated ponds across 16 California counties for the Sierra Nevada yellow-legged frog, across 2 California counties for the northern DPS of the mountain yellow-legged frog, and across 7 California counties for the Yosemite toad. There is significant overlap in the covered areas for these three species. Yosemite toad is listed as a threatened species, and the Sierra Nevada yellow-legged frog and the northern DPS of the mountain yellow-legged frog are listed as endangered species. |
